Area Update

Most of the corn in Southeast Nebraska has emerged and a few of the soybeans are beginning to emerge.  Planting has progressed faster than most years with the unseasonable warm spring we've had.  Lincoln, NE is above average moisture for this time of year so we are off to a very good start for the season.

Weed control is very good in most fields but we are seeing a few outbreaks of cutworm in corn.  Be sure to scout your fields and call Boyd or ask your chemical rep if you are seeing any insect activity.

Some center pivots have been running in central NE the past few days as farmers are trying to incorporate herbicide or are having emergence problems.  Most of our area has adequate moisture for now.

Prices for corn and soybeans continue to tumble on news of early planting and expectations of a record crop.  Local elevator prices for this fall are $4.75 for corn and $12.25 for soybeans.
